Mosaico de la Comunidad-Changing the World One Community at a Time
"Changing the World One Community at a Time" will aim at exploring art, history, culture and modeling interactive communication in the Englewood community as well as the communities of Coba and Merida, Mexico. Students from Englewood Elementary School will work together to create and install a large wall mosaic mural that celebrates the diversity of their school community and Merida, Mexico. The mosaic will be displayed at the U.S. Consulate in Merida, covering the front with a collaborative piece that would portray the values shared between the two countries, and serve as a sign of peace, respect, and cooperation. This will grant the youth interpersonal opportunities to build sustainable relationships together dedicated to service, embracing differences and celebrating shared values. This project has a fundamental goal to create sustainable relationships, global interpersonal correspondence centered on collaboration and celebration as well as an existence of “community sisterhood” that builds upon each other annually.
