SHINE ON and Show Your Guffey Gold
Through a survey the Character Team at George Guffey Elementary found that there was a need for students to practice manners throughout the school. “SHINE ON and Show your Guffey Gold” was then developed by the Character Team. SHINE ON stands for S – Say please and thank you, H – Hello and goodbye, I – I am sorry and I forgive you, N – Never put others down, E – Excuse me, O – Offer to lend a hand, N – Now is the time to shine by showing your Guffey Gold, treat others like you want to be treated! Students practiced their SHINE ON manners the first week of school formally and now they review daily. The students went on a “Guffey Galaxy Walk” and practiced manners in the classroom, the cafeteria, the nurse’s office, the hallway, the bus, the restroom, and the playground.The students, staff and parents have seen positive results from “SHINE ON and Show your Guffey Gold”.
