Character Education Club
Holly Glen has truly become a caring community through its Character Education Club (CEC) and the Community of Caring Committee (COC), which allows students to have a voice in how to improve the school community and the world around them. This committee is comprised of all stakeholders in our community. Together they plan, discuss, and create ideas on how to improve the environment of our school community. Through various activities and service learning projects, the students have developed a sense that giving back is a great feeling. Last year’s service learning project opened their hearts to a fellow student whose family was stricken with cancer. The students researched charities for cancer and agreed to donate the money to The Avon Foundation and Susan G. Komen in honor of the student’s mom. “I wish others could have experienced the empathy that the CEC students had the moment Natalie read her paper. It will be a moment I won’t forget,” stated one teacher.
