Building Rocket Pride
The school fosters shared leadership and long-range support of the character education initiative through our Character Education Committee (CEC). Our principal sets the tone by annually charging our staff and the CEC with the task of improving our character education results. Each year, the CEC develops character goals based on the previous year’s program evaluation. The evaluation includes Imagine Schools surveys of students, families and staff, in- house surveys of staff, reviews by our sponsor (Missouri Baptist University), reviews by Imagine Schools, and input from our PTA leaders. Academic, disciplinary and attendance data is also considered. The committee prepares draft goals at our first and second meetings in the fall. The draft goals are edited and approved by consensus of the committee and then shared with our principal for her input. With approval from the principal, we submit our goals to Imagine Schools in the fall. In the past three years our principal has commented favorably about the goals submitted and approved these goals with no changes.
