Julian Elementary School

DREAM Friday
Our practice has become extremely exciting over the last few years because of of its enrichment and diversity. It is unique in its design. Not only are the classes of students mixed, they spend the afternoon rotating to different locations which can range from classroom settings, to the school garden, the town site of Julian, or field trips. No matter the location, each student participates in a rotation of activities. The students rotate between three 30 minute activities each Friday afternoon. They are exposed to a variety of innovative and inspiring activities using laptop computers, iPod Touches, an assortment of art mediums, reading and writing lessons, an active exercise program using children's motivational videos, healthy cooking projects, and math games. The students and parents love the unique attributes of this program. Teaching the standards and benchmarks to our students is our main goal, but DREAM Fridays have created an opportunity to expose the students to integrate life skills into their academic environment.
