Stripes Buddy Activities
Kellison Elementary students are given opportunities to demonstrate their understanding of the Kellison TIGERtudes, our school adopted core values, through Stripes Buddy Activities. Stripes Buddy Activities use a comprehensive approach to character development by providing students opportunities to think, feel, and practice our core values. Each buddy activity is centered around one of our five TIGERtudes: Respect, Responsibility, Caring, Honesty and Cooperation. Older buddies work with their younger buddies to complete each activity; discussing, practicing and experiencing each specific character trait through hands-on projects. In addition, each classroom has a poster of our school mascot, Stripes, prominently displayed. Once a Stripes Buddy Activity is completed, students color a body part on Stripes, showing the school they have completed a character activity with their buddies and are “masters” in a core value. The poster acts as a visual reminder for the students and staff of the fun activity, the character trait practiced, and our school’s high expectation for good character.
