New Student Breakfast
The counseling department at Lafayette created a program to allow students new to the school and district a smooth transition into LHS. At the beginning of the year, all new students are contacted to attend a breakfast. At the breakfast, the counselors provide information about Lafayette academics, extracurricular activities, and events throughout the year. They ask that the teachers of these students come in and get to know the students better at this time. The students also get the opportunity to meet other students new to the district, and communicate more intimately within the group. At the end of the breakfast, students are given a Lafayette t-shirt and other spirit materials. As a follow-up to the breakfast, the students are invited to attend a luncheon in the principal's office early in the second semester. This allows students to discuss strengths and weaknesses of their transition, involvement, and general feelings about the school year.
