Basketball Character
These high school boys reached excellent heights this year as a team, but it is what they did with this community celebrity status that counts. On the day they went to our state championship, they toured the schools to meet the younger students at elementary schools and our middle school. At some of the schools, these players were allowed to speak with younger students about goal setting, respect, and being a team. Since finishing second in state, they are still making the rounds. At an after school latch key program in an elementary school, there are some bullying problems. Some members of the basketball team are sitting on a panel to talk with these younger students about how bullying hurts others, why it is not right, and how there are things to do if you are bullied. This gives our younger students good role models and a message to remember.
