“HOST Program”
Our HOST Program was designed to make our large high school feel much smaller and less overwhelming to students who recently moved here. After applying, those students who are without disciplinary issues on file and who show promise as leaders are chosen to represent the school to our newest Raiders as HOSTs. When a new student is scheduled, a HOST is assigned to help him or her around the building. HOSTs are assigned to new students based on similar interests and lunch periods so that new students have an immediate connection to a current student in the building. HOSTs will spend a minimum of two days with each new student answering questions, introducing him or her to staff and students while explaining policies, procedures, shortcuts, etc. In addition, HOSTs talk with new students about clubs and activities and other ways to become involved in the school and surrounding community. Ultimately, a HOST helps to ensure a positive transition to our school while making a new student feel emotionally and physically connected to his or her new surroundings. There is a great deal of pride that comes with saying, “I am a HOST."
