A Collective Expression of Gratitude
In an effort to pay tribute to heroes in our community at our annual Veteran's Breakfast, students in the media club decided to create a video presentation that would include every student in the school. The purpose of this project was to give students an opportunity to share the core ethical values of caring, respect, and responsibility with over 100 community members at our annual Veteran’s Breakfast event. The entire student population met on the football field and constructed a human flag with construction paper while being videotaped. They each held colored pieces of paper that, when raised above their heads, created the image of the American flag. The students then, in sequence, flipped their paper over to reveal the words "thank you" in yellow surrounded by a blue background. Finally, students raised their papers as if doing "the wave” at a stadium to create the effect of the flag waving. The video was then edited with the help of the media students and music was added. The videotape became part of a media presentation to be shown at our annual Veteran’s Breakfast.
