Savvy Senoritas
The Savvy Senoritas meet biweekly to promote positive self-esteem and service learning. The Club consists of 12 beautiful Latin girls in 3rd grade. The group will continue to meet during their 4th and 5th grade years as well. The Migrant Aide (former Springhead student) and the Media Specialist and Guidance Counselor (former teachers of the Migrant Aide) sponsor the group. Cultural celebrations, goal setting, positive assertiveness and career exploration are just a few of the dynamic topics the girls cover in their sessions. Providing positive female role models, focusing on academics and giving experiences they would not otherwise receive are the priority goals of the club. Opportunities for cross age tutoring are also a key component. Uniting home, school and community in order to demonstrate the unique yet similar significance of the young ladies is also an important aspect.
