CARING THROUGH THE ARTS
Throughout the 2010-2011 school year, four field trips and one school play were planned and implemented. Three of these plays were performed by professionals at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall in Sarasota, Florida. One of the four field trips was to an art exhibit on the Sarasota Bay entitled "Embracing Our Differences." The last activity was an original play written and performed by our students. All of these events are related to our Community of Caring program and the values of caring, respect, responsibility, trust, and family. Our Community of Caring funds pay the price of admission for anyone unable to cover this cost, thereby allowing very close to 100% attendance to every event. By arranging these events, we are allowing our students, parent chaperones, and teachers to experience the Community of Caring values in many forms in a setting other than the classroom.
