Fall Festival of Character
The Sullivan Middle School hosted Fall Festival of Character on October 29, 2010 for our neighboring Sullivan Primary School. The festival was created to give primary students an opportunity to enjoy a day of fun and games at the middle school while focusing on the importance of good character. There were approximately 914 students and 79 staff members involved. During October, middle school advisories teamed together to create booths that incorporated character words as the theme. There were fourteen booths, including Fishing for Honesty, Aiming for Good Character, Respectful Pumpkin, Characterko, Character Bounce, and Good Character Counts. Each booth was manned by advisory students. Our Fall Festival of Character allowed middle school students the opportunity to experience the true meaning of the character words they see daily in their classrooms. While the long-term effects of any undertaking may never be fully realized, the short-term effects are immediate. Students are recognizing that good character is something that is part of them and is recognizable by others. Character is catching at our school and thankfully there is no antibiotic for this bug.
