Liberty Eagle's Journey...A Purpose
The Sullivan Primary School is a Pre-K through first grade school. Children at this age need a concrete way to fully understand the reason why the National School of Character award is given. The team saw a need to make this journey a reality to all the primary students; so they took along an 8” cardboard colored cutout picture of the school’s mascot Liberty Eagle to play a part in a documented video that would be shown at the Sullivan Primary school- wide celebration. The team decided to photograph and video events that would be put into a DVD so the whole school could experience the journey. From the time the team left the school to the airport and the arrival in California, Liberty experienced being fastened in a seatbelt for safety, driving the plane with the pilot, and even showing proper use of emergency airplane equipment. Once in California, Liberty sat in on breakout sessions, dined at the fabulous luncheons provided, and went across the stage to receive the National School of Character award. Liberty also had the opportunity to do some sightseeing in San Francisco using the sightseeing places as a teaching tool in the video.
