Healthy Decisions for Healthy Bodies
Making healthy choices is a way to create good habits to live by. The students at Willards Elementary School participated in a week-long program exploring exercise and healthy decision-making. Students completed an obstacle course within a 15 - 20 minute time frame to show how the heart is affected by exercise and ate healthy snacks from home. Students participated in discussions about why we should choose certain foods over others. One big choice they have in the cafeteria is fruit or ice cream and they understood how fruit is a much better choice everyday and ice cream should be a choice maybe once a week. Finally the local high school cheerleading squad and football team attended our pep rally, with members speaking about their exercise program and how important their food choices are for being active and strong.
