"Manners Matter" PRIDE Luncheon
On Wednesday, November 23rd, AWR held its first Manners Matter PRIDE Luncheon. Developed by the Character Education Committee, the Manners Matter PRIDE Luncheon extended our school theme of PRIDE (Putting Respect and Responsibility in Daily Events), while emphasizing the monthly focus on manners. For this special day the 1st, 2nd and 3rd graders enjoyed lunch with their 4th, 5th and 6th grade " buddies" rather than with their usual friends and scheduled classes. Buddies ate together, created manner-themed placemats and utilized fun "Manners Matter" talking cards as conversation starters. This was an excellent opportunity for our older students to model what kind of manners are expected in the cafeteria and discuss ways to demonstrate good manners both at school and at home. After lunch, buddy classes participated in fun recess and team building activities with each other. The Manners Matter PRIDE Luncheon was a school-wide success and cultivated a kind, caring and cooperative environment celebrated with PRIDE by our students and staff daily.
