Cross Country Send Off Shopping Cart Parade
In the Fox C-6 School District, four middle schools feed into two different high schools. Our middle school, Antonia, is not located on a main campus with a high school. When you are on a main campus there is more of a sense of belonging than when separated. Most schools have a traditional homecoming celebration to honor current school members and former graduates. With budget constraints in the current economy, it became apparent that we would not be able to afford to bus our students to the high school to participate in the homecoming parade. After our character council was disappointed last year, our first year open, they decided this year to host their own parade. They wanted to honor current athletes and clubs while also challenging our student body to make shopping cart floats based on our school theme "On Track for a Healthy Life." This parade became a school-wide opportunity for everyone and has created a new tradition for years to come.
