SMART Steps
When a second grade teacher received a SMART Board in her class, she questioned how her young students would reach the top. Through a casual conversation between the teacher and principal, a new idea was formed. Several middle school students, along with the Industrial Arts teacher, transformed the words into ideas which moved into action. Students at East Hanover Middle School used problem solving, communication, and academic skills to create a stepping stool for second graders at Frank J. Smith Elementary School. As the result of a simple conversation, a relationship between two schools was established.
