Panther Partner Mentoring
The program consists of social skills, education assistance, and character education reinforcement. The local mentor coordinator works closely with full time educators, teachers and administration to ensure a quality program. The students are selected by the coordinator and administrators based on their ability to form lasting relationships that could positively affect their lives. These students interact with full-time educators as well as quality mentors that meet with them on a weekly basis. The purpose is to provide an experiential learning experience where community service is modeled and practiced in partnership with the student. By linking with academic programs the mentoring program compliments, enhances, and deepens what is learned in the classroom. It allows students the opportunity to learn more about themselves and the world around them through the experience of serving and being served. Panther Partners began in 2007 and now has grown to over 60 mentors who meet weekly with their same child. Many of the students have had the same mentor for five years.
