FBISD High School Diversity Conference
The Diversity Conference is an intra-district exciting, action-packed event that provides students with the opportunity to discover ideas, recognize the importance of shared leadership and develop an energized approach for promoting diversity. A group of student leaders from the high school campuses meet monthly to plan the Annual Quiz Bowl Competition and Diversity Conference. The Quiz Bowl is an event designed to increase student involvement with creating a culture of respect and celebrating diversity by schools competing to see which high school campus possesses the greatest knowledge about the conference theme. Schools compete in the Quiz Bowl by answering questions dealing with diversity, character, tolerance, and peace while showing good sportsmanship. The Diversity Conference activities include a motivational keynote speaker, three small group break-out sessions, the final round of the Quiz Bowl Competition and a closing ceremony message. Community sponsors, volunteers and district staff partner to host the annual events. Each high school group develops a campus action plan to address diversity issues and promote positive character.
