Student Orientation - FALCON CAMP
At Fort Settlement Middle School, the entire student body and all staff participate in Falcon Camp Orientation during the first week of school. Students are taught behavior and academic routines, procedures and expectations. All students and staff review the Falcon Code of Conduct which was developed with input from all stakeholders. Lessons are created by the character committee for attendance, dress code, hallway, stairs, classroom, cafeteria, locker room, and arrival and dismissal expectations and procedures. Teachers also review academic expectations, such as grading, the ZAP Program (zeros aren't permitted) and academic honesty. The orientation lessons are posted on our school's website so that all parents and guardians have access to these expectations. Special activities are developed for sixth graders and new students in all grades to our school. Twice a year, in the summer and after the first semester, the character committee reviews data from office referrals, grade reports, and interviews with student groups to address new concerns or trends seen or to adjust the current lessons of the orientation.
