Bear Buddies
Imagine Great Western Academy's Kindergarten/Middle School "Bear Buddies" is a unique buddy system comprised of five kindergarten classes and five middle school classes that focus on educating our youngest group of "golden bears" about good character. This buddy system is an implementation of Principle 2, "The school defines 'character' comprehensively to include thinking, feeling, and doing," and Principle 3, "The school uses a comprehensive, intentional, and proactive approach to character development." The "Bear Buddies" program was created by our Staff Character Education Committee with the intent of providing the opportunity for our eldest students to become mentors and feel a sense of purpose and accountability in addition to educating our youngest students on what it means to posses and practice good character.
