Character Makeover
The faculty, students and parents at Imagine School Evening Rose began the year with an initiative to create a welcoming place for all who enter the building. A parent and local artist along with our own art teachers sketched woodland scenery down the hallways. Parents and students colored in the pictures with paint supplied by community donations. A large "character tree" welcomes you at the front entrance with leaves that denote each character trait such as respect, caring, responsibility and trustworthiness. The Character Makeover continued during the holiday break and after, until each hall was filled with words of character depicted as nature roadways and trails. The middle school art students sketched character words in the cafeteria, which would be renamed the Imagine Café. A classroom was turned into the newly-improved media center where tiles painted by students were hung on the wall to create a beautiful tile mosaic. Books, computers, tables and a reading corner have been created to invite students to read and share. Every corner at Imagine Evening Rose has been transformed into a place of character. Each action helps build a sense of "community" based on character.
