Character through the "Ages"
The 7th grade service-learning class overwhelmingly decided to adopt our neighborhood nursing home as their main service project for the 2011-2012 school year. Every Tuesday and Thursday the 7th grade class heads next door to visit the resident's at Josephson's Nursing Home. The students help to lead the residents in cooperative activities such as games, puzzles, crafts, and holiday celebrations. For many of the students and residents the twice-weekly visit has turned into much more than a partnership; they have become life-changing friendships. The class has taken on a life of its own with students continuing visits outside of the school day, bringing friends and family members to meet their new friends, and developing respect and love for people they may not typically come in contact with.
