Ethics Tournament
Our ethics tournament for fifth semester high school students consist of rounds of debates. The objective is to develop critical thinking skills and reinforce understanding of ethical concepts and encourage an ethical commitment in students by doing analysis, evaluation of situations, argumentation and research in order to create an institutional culture based on ethical reflection and action. Students, in teams of seven, do research on topics assigned by the academic faculty and engage in elimination rounds. Judges evaluate based on a rubric that assesses critical thinking, ethical approaches and principles, philosophical concepts and logical argumentation, as well as communication skills. All fifth semester students participate until there is a winning team. As they are eliminated, they become part of the audience, being part of the discussion of relevant ethical dilemmas.
