The Turkey Dinner Dance
The Turkey Dinner Dance is an annual event hosted by members of the Lafayette Student Council. The purpose of the event is to bring senior citizens from the community into the school and provide them with a catered Thanksgiving meal followed by a dance. Students advertise the event and place orders with a local restaurant and grocery store for an approximate number of meals. On the day of the event, the students set up the cafeteria with tablecloths and holiday decorations. They escort the seniors in to the commons and serve them their meals. After dinner, music is played for the seniors to dance with each other and the students. This year, approximately 150 seniors were in attendance and 50 students volunteered to make the event a success.
