LMS Digital Citizens
At the beginning of our school year, all students received a netbook computer as part of a grant through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. At the core of the grant is the push to reinforce the idea that 21st Century Skills are not just skills in using technology, but skills that emphasize communication, respecting differences among others, collaborating creatively with others, and understanding your place in a global society. These skills were then integrated with our Cardinal Code: Respect, Responsibility, and Readiness to together form the basis of our Digital Citizenship program.
Good Digital Citizens demonstrate the Cardinal Code when using technology, Web 2.0 Tools, and Social Media. Our program introduces and reinforces Digital Citizenship to both our students and to their parents. Being a good Digital Citizen covers a wide variety of responsibilities that include avoiding, monitoring, and reporting cyber-bullying and plagiarism, and assisting others in becoming good Digital Citizens.
