Saeger Community Band
The Saeger Community Band is an extracurricular band that meets once a month for five months. The band is open to 7th and 8th grade band students, students from our neighboring high school, teachers, school staff, administrators, parents and family members of students, and community members. This year, we have a wide variety of players in our group of 62! The group works collaboratively to learn and perform a set of concert music. The seating chart allows for students to sit next to older students, alumni of our school, parents, and even teachers or principals! The setting of this community band gives our students an opportunity to see firsthand how music plays a role in the lives of the adults in their community. Middle school students are getting an excellent opportunity to learn from (and sometimes even teach) adults in a fun setting. All involved are learning about the power of collaboration and teamwork. In March, which is Music in Our Schools Month, the Saeger Community Band will be presenting a community concert.
