Gentlemen's Quest
Gentlemen's Quest appears to be founded on the same concepts as any gang currently in existence. Their creeds define Respect as a deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities or achievement. They state that Brotherhood is an association of men, such as a fraternity or union, united for common purposes and Honor becomes honesty, fairness or integrity in one's beliefs and actions. But for the 55 sixth, seventh, and eighth graders, many who arrived at Marshall as disengaged students or loners who had no hope, no positive role models and no self-esteem, GQ has opened a door that promises a future marked by success rather than a path to failure. Now, they have positive outlooks and are a brotherhood who are there for each other. GQs' sponsor and the mentors that he recruits to work with the young men are driven to develop in them a concept of respect for themselves, and the ability to make good decisions and resist peer pressure. They are taught to build positive relationships, especially with teachers. They are encouraged to "dress for success" and are very much aware of the high expectations that fall on every member of Gentlemen's Quest.
