Leadership Association and Safety Patrol
The Leadership Association and Safety Patrol (LASP) at Peterson Elementary is comprised of fourth and fifth grade students who serve as role models for our entire school through their exemplary character, responsible choices on and off campus, dedication to serving others, and leadership skills. All students are welcome to apply and are selected at the end of each school year to serve for the coming school year. The two components of the program include safety patrol and leadership. LASP students have weekly safety patrol responsibilities, which include working shifts before and after school. The leadership component of the program allows for them to be involved in multiple service project opportunities, to serve as student leaders at campus events, and to enhance their leadership skills. LASP students are expected to attend monthly meetings where safety patrol management items are discussed, shift tardiness is checked (students clock in for safety patrol shifts with a time clock), teambuilding/leadership activities are provided, and grade and behavior checks are submitted (which students are responsible for completing with their teachers).
