Puppet Theater
The Puppet Theater is a comprehensive show that occurs quarterly to review character traits discussed during classroom guidance lessons. There are four main goals of the theater: 1) It serves to unify the school in that everyone has the experience of attending the show; therefore, we all have the common bond of receiving the same information. 2) It provides a comprehensive review of all the lessons, concepts, and character traits discussed in classroom guidance over the past quarter. 3) It provides all 5th graders an opportunity to develop and demonstrate leadership skills. 4) It teaches appropriate behavior skills in a social setting. Students have learned three focus strategies that can be used in every setting: eye, body, and mind focus. This carries over into the classroom and hopefully into other settings they may experience at home and in the community, A parent letter is sent home explaining the events of each show so that parents can have discussions with their children. Staff members and teachers have also "lent their voices" to the puppets, helped with art work, sound, etc. Everyone at Oak Hill looks forward to the quarterly Puppet Shows!
