HUG (Hello, Update, Goodbye)
The HUG technique is a check-in/check-out system that supports students experiencing difficulties/delays in their social/ emotional development. This method provides targeted feedback, reinforcement and positive attention from adults. A P.E. teacher at Pierce Elementary has set up the system for our school. This team approach connects students, which have been identified by general education teachers, with other adults in the building. As a whole staff, we feel that we can truly make a difference in a student's behavior by building connections with the students.
