Energizing the Quarton Quote
The Quarton Quote, our school touchstone, is comprised of six lines ("Be your best. Encourage the rest. Accept. Respect. Strive for success.) which create an acrostic that spells out B-E-A-R-S, our school mascot. Our character education initiative for 2011-2012 year was a school and community-wide effort to energize our quote. We taught classroom lessons with accompanying family home activities to accomplish this goal. We took 4-6 weeks focusing on each line of the quote. As a school community, and through the leadership of our character education committee, we developed habits and school-wide practices that engaged students and helped them to internalize the deep meaning embedded in each line of our touchstone.
