Character Education Days for K-3
On designated character days, each grade (K-3) is called to the auditorium throughout the day. All students in the grade level are then separated into groups of eight with volunteers (parents, business partners) leading each group, which allows for small group interaction. Each session expands upon one of the district's five character traits: compassion, responsibility, acceptance, honesty, and respect. The session lasts approximately 30-40 minutes. Students are engaged in a variety of activities such as: role playing, mix/match pair scenarios, discussion, experiments, video clips, and singing songs. A detailed script is prepared by teachers beforehand and given to the volunteers to follow. There is a teacher facilitator who guides the group as a whole to keep things running smoothly.
