"Stand Up!" Community Flag Project
To promote the importance of honesty, courage, decision making, and philanthropy, Salt Brook Elementary School has a special flag project that engages families and outside community members as partners in their character education message, "Stand Up!" Blank flags are sent to local families and businesses in the New Providence community. Both children (outside of our school) and adults alike write about how they Stand Up in their own lives. On our school's front hallway bulletin board, we have a visual display of all of the family/community flags that we have received back. This visual reminder of "Standing Up" reinforces our Stand Up message to our students of doing what is right. It is a great way to read about and visually see photos of all the wonderful things that people do on a daily basis to help make our world a more kind and safe place to live!
