Seaholm Kick Off Mentor Program
The Seaholm Mentor Program "kicks-off" with an orientation for the entire freshman class and the assigned junior/senior mentors prior to the beginning of the school year. It includes transition activities in homeroom groups, provides freshmen opportunities to build relationships with their mentors, and allows them to express concerns and questions before starting school. Throughout the school year, freshmen meet regularly with their mentors, both in structured homeroom groups with discussion and transition activities that are pre-planned, as well as outside the school in a more relaxed setting. The entire program provides opportunities for freshmen to interact with their mentors and build relationships with upperclassmen mentors and other freshmen in their homeroom groups. This mentor program is designed to be student-centered, and allows for not only a more successful introduction and transition to high school for the freshmen, but it provides leadership opportunities and skill-building for the older students, while maintaining a big-picture school culture improvement focus.
