Treasure Hunt
Each year all 7th grade students participate in a three-month integrative project called Treasure Hunt. The students are asked to research about Mexico's natural treasures (i.e. archeological sites, natural resources, etc.). They prepare a stand and present their findings to parents. Then they present a treasure map that they have made to their parents. The parents are sent all over the campus following the map instructions until they find the "treasure". The treasure consists of a treasure chest that the students have made which includes a letter to their parents. The letter is written on recycled paper that the students have made. The letter expresses their feelings to their parents. Then the parents and the students come back to the auditorium for the closing. The closing consists of a short conference entitled, "Family, Our True Treasure". This project brings together knowledge and abilities from five different subjects: geography, Spanish, orientation, environmental education, and learning development. It also helps the students to reflect on the importance of family and the need to appreciate them.
