The Student Life Weekly Progress Report
The SEED School of Maryland has eight core values: respect, responsibility, perseverance, self-discipline, self-determination, empathy, perseverance, and compassion. Students are expected to display these values daily throughout the 24-hour school day. The counselor "grades them" weekly on these values and a progress report is sent home to parents to inform them how well their son or daughter did during the week. All of this is viewed through the character education lens as students are expected to do everything with character. Staff include comments on what students did well and what they can improve upon. Students are expected to show the report to parents, have them sign it, and return it to the school when they return on Sunday. Students are often excited that they were able to have a good report and demonstrate character throughout the week. This report is also looked at to determine how well students are maturing as they move from middle to upper school. It is imperative that students not only learn their academics but also learn how to be good citizens and mature young adults. We feel that is equally important and impress that upon our young adults.
