Senior Character Mentor Program
The goal of the Senior Character Mentor Program is to train seniors to work with small groups of 6th graders. We hope to promote a culture of mentorship at TCA by giving our students the tools and vision for making a personal impact in another person's life. The seniors are trained in active listening skills, group dynamics, the art of asking questions, basic learning styles, and the importance of using story and imagination. The seniors meet with their small group of 6th graders every other week for 40 minutes, and during this time they get to know the students through games, skits, and ice breakers. The seniors also talk about character topics, such as respect, responsiblity, leadership, courage, handling conflict and making a difference.
