T.E.A.M. Morris
T.E.A.M. Morris was started with several goals in mind. T.E.A.M. Morris is an acronym which stands for: Technology, Education, Athletics, and Mentoring. This derived from the diverse panel which serves as advisors. These specialists include a technology coordinator, physical education instructor, math teacher, curriculum specialist, and special education teacher. Also serving periodically is a retired military officer. The program began with an interest meeting. Sixty-five eager boys were interviewed by the panelists. Questions ranged from "Why would you like to be in this organization?" to "What are your future goals and aspirations?" Twenty-five boys fourth and fifth grades were selected. After the selection process, the boys were given a calendar of events and activities. These events and activities included electing officers; organizing a canned food drive for the needy at Thanksgiving; throwing a Valentine surprise for teachers; a private viewing of the movie Red Tails with a written essay on the movie; creating, hosting, and starring in the annual black history program; and participating in etiquette classes. We have aspirations of expanding to include ten other boys next year.
