The NO EXCUSES Program
The NO EXCUSES Program provides its students with a safe and caring learning environment. The program is designed to provide structure and accountability for students that have concerns with traditional placement. Unlike some alternative schools, the program is housed inside the high school in two large classrooms. In these rooms students are treated as family and feel a sense of belonging. The parents and students that participate in this program go through an application process and are interviewed by a committee for acceptance. Two paraprofessionals and the director work tirelessly to provide continual feedback and direction for the students. The students in this program sponsor our Powder Puff football game, a variety show, and participate in service learning projects. These students would fall through the cracks if it were not for this program being a bridge between traditional high school and a true alternative setting. They follow the same curriculum and achieve at higher levels than most of them have achieved in their academic experiences because of the accountability and feedback. This program deserves recognition for its continued effort to serve our students.
