Fall into Fun Reading Family Night!
Students, families, staff, and community members joined together to enjoy a twist on a traditional reading fun night at William Cappel Elementary. The evening was a great treat after a week of fun-filled reading activities at home and school. W.C.E.'s outdoor classroom was the site of the event. Students and staff transformed the area by decorating with scarecrows, hay bales, cornstalks and planting beautiful mums. High school volunteers greeted families and helped guide them in a special book swap where everyone who entered could leave with a new or gently used book. A picnic dinner was prepared by Chartwell's dining service that allowed students and their families to enjoy a meal in the beautiful outdoor classroom/garden. Families were treated with community members reading their favorite stories. Between stories, participants enjoyed the company of staff members while they snacked on s'mores and hot chocolate prepared by P.T.O. members and high school volunteers. The local Rotary Club also engaged students and their families in a new backpack of books checkout program.
